Discovering Cultures and Joy, Sublime Art Collect I am inspired by an enduring passion to cure the blues and bring deep joy, to help one soar towards the heights of imagination. Indo-British artist, Soniya has lived in different parts of Africa and India. She currently resides in Madrid. She has a doctorate in post-colonial studies, feminism and contemporary Indian art. Her thesis was awarded with the Outstanding Research Prize by the Spanish Association of Interdisciplinary Studies on India, University of Cordoba, Spain (AEEII). She studied Fine Arts at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. As a multidisciplinary researcher and artist, her work focuses on gender issues from intersectional feminist perspectives, exploring and highlighting the challenges faced by people from different cultures and social classes. Interested in portraying the human condition, she seeks to make visible the stories of people who dedicate themselves to denouncing human rights violations and fight to promote policies of change towards equality and social justice. Soniya searches for answers to a not wholly understood quest, through diverse techniques and media. She attempts to inspire in the observer a spiritual and intellectual response, to take advantage of emotions. Her work often speaks of the sensitivity and gravity of imbalances. Soniya frequently holds artistic-pedagogical and therapeutic workshops and has published in diverse academic journals. She has been awarded with various art prizes and has exhibited individually in India Europe and Africa. Her work is held in public and private collections.
